The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday (January 7) said the International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed its willingness to work closely with the board to address concerns related to Bangladesh’s participation in the T20 World Cup to be held in India.

In a statement, the BCB said the ICC has reiterated its commitment to ensuring full and uninterrupted participation of Bangladesh in the global tournament, amid speculation over logistical and operational challenges.

“The ICC has assured the BCB of its support and willingness to work together to address any concerns related to Bangladesh’s participation in the T20 World Cup in India,” the board said in a press release.

BCB to continue constructive engagement with ICC

The BCB added that it would continue constructive engagement with the ICC in order to arrive at a practical and mutually agreeable solution that ensures the smooth participation of the Bangladesh team in the marquee ICC event.

“The Board will continue constructive engagement with the ICC and relevant event authorities in a cooperative and professional manner to arrive at an affable and practical solution that ensures the smooth and successful participation of the team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026,” the release added.

ICC reportedly told Bangladesh to continue playing their matches in India

While the Bangladesh had requested ICC to shift their T20 World Cup matches from India to Sri Lanka, the ICC had reportedly rejected their request. Bangladesh had cited security concerns and ICC has assured them that all their concerns would be addressed.

“The BCB has also taken note of certain reports published in a section of the media suggesting that the Board has been issued an ultimatum in this regard. The BCB categorically states that such claims are completely false, unfounded and do not reflect the nature or content of the communication received from the ICC,” the BCB said in its statement.
