ATM 2025: A Unified Platform for Himalayan Collaboration and Conservation

Speaking about ATM 2025 to FinancialExpress.com, Mr Tsewang Namgail, Director, Snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust, said, “I think it is a great way of learning and understanding problems and sharing solutions if possible. I have been advocating that people from across the Himalayas need to come together and look at the entire Himalayas as a unit and not as separate states. Because the Himalaya is facing challenges everywhere. ATM 2025 is a really good way of bringing people together and learning from one another and sharing ideas. So it’s a great opportunity.”

An eco-fragile zone like Ladakh has its own unique challenges when it comes to tourism. On this aspect, Mr Namgail said, “There are several challenges, of course. The environment, the ecology is very sensitive. So, for instance, even in soft adventure tourism like wildlife there are a lot of things that people need to keep in mind. Because the mountains are quite fragile and, with very little rainfall, water scarcity is there. These are some of the main issues that people are facing and we have been trying to find solutions. And I think programmes like ATM 2025 are really important to learn and understand from one another.”
