Tata Power share price fell as much as 2.5% to Rs 396.60 on the National Stock Exchange. The fall in the stock price came after the company was ordered to pay $490.32 million in damages to Kleros Capital Partners, along with interest and legal costs. 

The arbitral tribunal under the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) issued an award. These were initiated by Kleros against the company on November 30, 2020, and the oral hearings of which had concluded in February 2024. 

“The three member arbitral tribunal, with a majority of 2:1, has partially allowed the claim that Kleros had filed in these arbitration proceedings, and has awarded Kleros, damages in the sum of (a) $490.32 million with simple interest of 5.33% from November, 30 2020 till the same is paid and (b) cost of $8.3 million with simple interest of 5.33% from July 1, 2025 till the same is paid,” said Tata Power in a regulatory filing. 

However, Tata Power said that it is in the process of reviewing the contents of the award and is evaluating all options, including challenging the award.

The case is around Tata Power’s Russian mining partner, Kleros Capital Partners Ltd. Tata Power’s Russian partner claimed that Tata Power breached confidentiality and non-circumvention clauses in their Non-Disclosure Agreement, which was signed for a proposed coal mining project in Russia.

The Tata Group stock reported an increase of 16.5% year-on-year in consolidated net profit at Rs 1,043 crore for the fourth quarter of the financial year 2024-25,  compared with Rs 895 crore in the same period a year ago.

Tata Power’s revenue from operations rose 8% YoY to Rs 17,096 crore in Q4FY25, as against Rs 15,847 crore in Q4FY24.

Also, the company’s board recommended a final dividend of Rs 2.25 per equity share for FY25.

The power stock has fallen 2.2% in the last five trading sessions. Tata Power’s share price has risen by 2.2% in the last one month and by almost 1% in the past six months. However, it has declined by 7.7% in the past one year.
