Indian equity benchmarks closed Tuesday’s special Muhurat session on a bit higher note. The Nifty 50 closed the day 25 points or 0.10% higher at 25,868, which is the highest level since September 2024. The Sensex rose 63 points or 0.07% to end at 84,426.

However, the banking stocks see a bit of selling. The Nifty Bank settled 26 points or 0.04% lower at 58,007. The midcap stocks also surged in today’s trade. The BSE Midcap surged 427 points, or 0.92%, at 46,787. The BSE Smallcap finished 486.81 points or 0.91% higher at 53,842.85.

Indices in intraday trade

The indices closed the one-hour-long trade on a positive note. During the session, out of 3,039 trading stocks, 2,213 advanced, while 710 declined, and 116 remained unchanged. Today, 106 stocks hit a fresh 52-week high. Meanwhile, 36 stocks touched a new 52-week low. 

Top gainers 

Cipla was the top gainer in the Nifty 50 in Tuesday’s session, closing 1.58% higher. It was followed by Bajaj Finserv, Infosys, JSW Steel, and Grasim Industries.
