The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) wants to revive commodity market and enhancing its liquidity, said Kamlesh Chandra Varshney, whole-time member (WTM). Brokers play an important role as mediators for farmers in commodity markets and in bringing new investors from tier 2 and tier 3 cities, the WTM noted.

Brokers urged to assist SEBI in curbing frauds
Brokers are the backbone of capital markets and they must partner SEBI in controlling fraud and scams, and in educating investors on the UPI valid handles, he said in reference to a new initiative of the regulator. “We have to get more and more people into our capital market, to become a developed country by 2047,” Varshney said.
