People with a strong inclination towards music know that Harman International offers high quality speakers, home theatre systems, and a plethora of products and accessories in the iPod/iPhone universe.

While these audio devices come under the Harman Kardon brand, few are however aware that the parent company Harman also has other equally popular brands under its umbrella—JBL, AKG, Mark Levinson, Crown Amplifiers. Harman is also popular in the professional audio scene; brands like AKG and Crown Amplifiers are seen as standards for studio microphones and amplification, respectively. Recently, Harman was kind enough to send across their AKG K-52 headphones for a product evaluation.

To be honest, I was somewhat surprised that in this age of wireless connectivity, the K52  do not come with Bluetooth technology; that is, they are wired audio devices which can be connected to your mobile phone, tablet or a PC. Let me clarify here that AKG brand is a hit among professionals and their latest invention (K-52 headphones) is intended for project studios and rehearsals.

Out of the box, the K52 comes across as a stylish headphone. Basically, this headphone keeps you connected, and despite being wired it does not keep you tied down. According to me, the K52 is a perfect companion to your mobile phone, tablet or a laptop. Being pretty lightweight at 200g, you can place these headphones on your head and walk over to the refrigerator easily to pick something to eat; or you can walk up to the window and see what is going on outside. You can use them to enjoy your entertainment needs, without disturbing others.

Technical speak, the K-52 are over-ear, closed back headphones that have professional-grade 40 mm drivers for wide 18Hz-20kHz frequency response. Their self-adjusting headband and lightweight construction provides exceptional comfort while monitoring vocals or tracking a bass line, and even during long sessions. Importantly, they are comfortable headphones, despite the challenges that on-ear
designs often have; the band and cushions thankfully don’t exert unnecessary pressure on your head or ears.

I found the headphones to be comfortable, fully covering my ears and doing a good job of passively sealing them against outside sound. Take my word, you have got to use this wired innovation to appreciate the benefits it offers to us. Connecting them with my mobile phone and laptop to listen to music, the sound from K52 is good and clear, much better than any other consumer headphones and more expensive ones. The professional drivers of the K52 deliver solid bass, well-defined mids and clear highs— without any hype—so you can hear exactly what’s happening. The unique self-adjusting headband provides a personalised fit, ensuring serious comfort during marathon sessions.
In simple words, with a lightweight yet durable design, high-quality components and replaceable earpads, the K52 is built to last. These headphones feature style, comfort, quality, and deliver great sound. Highly recommended for music lovers.
