Social networking platform X (formerly Twitter) has increased the pricing of Premium+ subscription service by 98% to Rs 3,470 a month in India.

The same comes after Elon Musk-owned xAI launched the Grok 3 generative AI model and made it available only to premium + users.

Notably, this is the second such increase in pricing by X. Earlier, the pricing of Premium + service was at Rs 1,750 per month earlier. The price of an annual plan has also been increased to Rs 34,340 a year from Rs 18,300 per year.

X introduced Premium+ subscription plan in October 2023 at Rs 1,300 per month. Besides Grok 3, subscribers to the Premium+ tier get an ad-free experience across most areas of X, including the For You timeline, Following timeline, post replies, and profiles, ensuring a smoother and more uninterrupted content experience.

The company, however, has not changed the subscription pricing of other plans. The basic plan is currently available at Rs 244 per month and the premium plan is priced at Rs 650 per month.

In a significant development, Elon Musk’s xAI has launched Grok 3, the latest update to its AI model designed to compete with industry giants like OpenAI, Meta, DeepSeek, and Google.

According to Musk, Grok 3 is the smartest AI on earth and is designed to redefine the way problems are solved using AI. The model has more than 10 times the computational power of its predecessor, making it capable of handling more demanding tasks.
