WhatsApp has launched a new ‘Schedule Calls’ feature, allowing users to set up calls in advance for both group and one-on-one chats on the platform. Meta-owned WhatsApp is already used by millions of users worldwide for calling people without a SIM card over the internet. The new feature that is being launched by WhatsApp will benefit these users who use the calling feature provided by the platform a lot.

WhatsApp Schedule Calls Feature:

Schedule Calls is the new calling feature launched by WhatsApp that will let users schedule calls in advance, resembling the schedule meeting feature available in Zoom. The new call feature will be available under the call tab. Moreover, people who have been added to a scheduled call on WhatsApp will automatically receive a notification beforehand. Additionally, the new feature will also be applicable for both group and one-on-one calls.

How to Use WhatsApp Scheduled Calls?

The new call feature can be used from the calls tab, then users need to click the + button and select the “Schedule Call feature”. Additionally, people can invite colleagues and friends from their itself without having to send individual alerts to call participants. People can also track their upcoming scheduled calls from the calls tab from now onwards. Moreover, the calls that have been scheduled could be added and synced to the Google Calendar. Users who schedule WhatsApp calls in advance will receive notifications when someone joins their call via a shared link.

Edge Over Competition:

The call feature is helping WhatsApp to compete with platforms that offer similar features, like Zoom and Google Meet. For instance, the raise your hand feature available in Google Meet is now available here, along with emoji reactions. These new additions will surely give competing platforms like Zoom a run for their money since WhatsApp already has a large user base that earlier switched to rivals for using these features.

WhatsApp says it has made UI changes to make it easier for users to manage calls. “We’re launching these updates to give users new ways to connect, whether for family catch-ups or professional meetings,” WhatsApp said in a press note. All of these features will greatly benefit the Meta-owned platform which started as an instant messaging platform.
