Lenskart is working on a new model that will let you make UPI payments from the smartglasses – no usage of a phone required in the process.
Revealed at the Global Fintech Festival 2025, Lenskart announced the groundbreaking feature for its upcoming B Camera Smartglasses – direct UPI payment integration. The glasses will allow users to complete transactions by simply scanning a QR code with their smartglasses and authenticate the process, all by eliminating the need for a phone or PIN.
Lenskart B Camera Smartglasses to bring UPI payments
The Lenskart B Camera Smartglasses, which is expected to launch in the coming months, promises to seamlessly blend advanced eyewear design with operational ease. The direct UPI functionality aims to give users a reason to wear the smartglasses on a daily basis. The UPI payment feature allows the device to securely link to the user’s bank account, enabling authentication and payment completion solely through voice commands. No PIN required!
This means no more struggling with a phone for manually entering a PIN during a purchase. The feature is based on NPCI’s UPI Circle Feature, which was announced recently. The technology allows wearables to conduct digital payments securely and in real-time.
Peyush Bansal, Chairman, CEO & Co-founder of Lenskart, highlights the evolving role of smart glasses in everyday life. “The role and use of smart glasses in our lives will continue to evolve and payments are an important part of our daily activity. By integrating payments into the camera of smart glasses, we intend to make this a seamless form of payments,” he stated.
Online payments via smart glasses are usually unheard of
The smartglasses segment is flourishing at the moment, with lots of players making mostly cheaper glasses with a small camera and speakers for listening to music on the move. Nobody, including Meta, Google, or Apple, has figured out a way make digital payments from their wearables yet.
Beyond payments, the B Camera Smartglasses are equipped with an advanced on-the-go Point-of-View (POV) camera and built-in AI features. This combination of vision, intelligence, and commerce capabilities positions the smartglasses as a versatile tool for the modern consumer.
