Total solar eclipse 2024 is scheduled for today, April 8. During the rare celestial event, the sun will briefly get covered by the moon, creating a complete darkness momentarily in several countries. While you may not be able to see it directly, there is an option to watch it live as it happens, online. As the total solar eclipse approaches, Google has also introduced a special animation for those searching for it on the internet.

Imagine searching for a total solar eclipse and boom you get to watch an animated version of it. From what is understood, as user’s google solar eclipse, a google pop-up will appear showcasing an eclipsed sun before directing them to the results for total solar eclipse.
Reportedly about 32 million people across 15 states in the United States can watch the eclipse which will be visible to them before moving to Canada within 30 minutes. The path of totality of the solar eclipse is 185 kilometers. An additional 150 million living less than 200 miles from the strip can also see the celestial event. Furthermore, people living far away can also get a view of a partial eclipse, or keep a track of the webcast initiated by NASA, the US space agency.

The stream will be kick off at 10:30 PM IST on April 8 and end at 1:30 AM IST on April 9. “The total solar eclipse will start at 9:12 pm on April 8, totality will start at 10:08 pm, and will end on April 9, 2024, at 2:22 am,” as per insights from the Indian Standard Time (IST). In addition, the Pacific coast of Mexico will go through a totality first, around 11:07 am PDT, and the event will leave Maine at around 1:30 pm PDT.

During the total solar eclipse experts have advised many schools situated in the path of the solar eclipse to keep closed or letting students out early. Many airlines are expected to have created advertisements for flights scheduled to pass under the eclipse. Furthermore, Delta has also planned two special trips along the path of totality.
Residents in the southern and central US are hoping that the rain clouds don’t play spoilsport during the eclipse. Experts have predicted that the next total solar eclipse might not come before 2044 and can be seen from a large part of North America.
