Samsung working on an augmented reality(AR)//Extended Reality device has been in the news for quite some time. However, till now it was not clear what could be the exact device or when it would come. Finally, some reports have highlighted that the company will come up with similar Ray-Ban Meta sunglasses.
According to a report from South Korea, Samsung plans to bring AR supported smart glasses. The company aims to launch the product in the third quarter of 2025. Let’s have a look at the detailed report made about the upcoming product.
Samsung can bring AR smart glasses
In 2023, Samsung had teased about its work on an “XR Experience” device during the Galaxy S23 launch. Now, a year later finally some more details have been unveiled about the much rumored device. As predicted to launch by 2025, the device can provide with you a AR experience in a sunglass like device. Reportedly, Samsung’s AR smart glasses could compete with the Apple Vision Pro. However, the first batch of devices will only be available for selected markets.
Additionally, Samsung has also confirmed that the ‘device’ will be made by partnering with Qualcomm and Google. Qualcomm will be providing the chipset and Google will provide large language models (LLMs) capable of supporting AI features/tools. The glasses can also allow you to make payments , have gesture recognition and much more. Coming to the weight, it might have a weight of about 50 grams. Also you can expect a battery life of 155mAh.
In addition to this, Samsung’s smart glasses will use Qualcomm’s AR1 semiconductor as the main processing unit. It will also use NXP semiconductor as the auxiliary processing unit. The camera could be of 12 million pixels and will be equipped with Sony IMX681 CMOS image sensor. As not much details are known, all we can do is wait for the tech company to come up with a detailed briefing.

In other news, Samsung is developing a multi-fold phone, according to a recent report by South Korea’s ETNews. The tech company could be working on a new foldable phone that could compete with Mate XT Ultimate Edition, by Huawei’s. The Mate XT Ultimate Edition is the world’s first tri-fold smartphone. The rumored foldable phone by Samsung will feature a unique inward folding design, unlike Huawei’s outward folding mechanism. The device is expected to launch sometime in 2025, However, as of now the exact date is unknown.
