After Airtel-Perplexity’s landmark partnership and ChatGPT’s recent freebie offer to Indian consumers, Reliance Jio has now shaken hands with Google to extend the latter’s benefits to a wider extent. The headlining gift is the free access to the Google AI Pro subscription for 18 months, worth Rs 35,100.
Reliance Intelligence Limited and Google have entered into a partnership, aiming to encourage AI adoption among consumers, enterprises, and developers. While the free access to Gemini AI Pro for 18 months is something that will grab attention, Jio’s partnership with Google is also helping to extend access to AI hardware accelerators, Google Tensor Processing Units. Additionally, the two will also help extend the benefits of Gemini Enterprise to help businesses utilise advanced AI tools.
Free Google AI Pro for Jio users
The most striking benefit from this collaboration is the extension of free access to Google AI Pro for 18 months – a subscription package that would otherwise cost an individual Rs 35,100. As part of this offer, users will get access to Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro model within the Gemini app, alongside advanced tools like Veo 3.1 for video generation, NotebookLM for study and research, and a generous 2TB of cloud storage.
The offer is on similar lines to the Airtel-Perplexity deal that offers an annual subscription to Perplexity Pro for free to all Airtel users. However, Jio’s offer rollout scheme is vastly different from others.
Jio is targeting the offer initially at 18 to 25-year-olds, who have subscribed to unlimited 5G plans. Reliance says that the program will eventually offer the benefit to every Jio customer nationwide. Eligible users can get access to the free Google AI Pro plan via the MyJio plan. Jio-Google benefits for enterprise users
For enterprise users, Reliance Intelligence is now a key strategic partner for Google Cloud. The firm will help drive the adoption of Gemini Enterprise across Indian organisations. The partnership will provide enhanced access to AI hardware accelerators like Google Tensor Processing Units. This will allow businesses to harness advanced agentic AI for their next-gen applications and services.
Reliance has also committed to building multi-gigawatt (multi-GW), clean energy-powered, state-of-the-art sovereign compute infrastructure. Leveraging Google’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), this initiative will allow more organisations to train and deploy larger, more complex AI models at faster speeds.
