The Pixel 9a, the alleged next Pixel smartphone from Google, has leaked online once again before its purported unveiling in March. Likely to compete with the iPhone SE 4—that is launching later today, per reports—the Pixel 9a is the rumoured sequel to last year’s Pixel 8a and is expected to come rocking the Google Tensor G4, the same chip that powers the Pixel 9 series. The fresh leak corroborates previous leaks about possible design.
Google Pixel 9a leaked!
Folks over at Android Authority have been able to get their hands on renders of seemingly official cases for the Google Pixel 9a. There are two big takeaways. One is the choice of colours itself. The cases match the distinct colourways the Pixel 9a has long been rumoured to come in. There are four to be precise: Obsidian, Porcelain, Iris, and Peony. In layman terms, Obsidian is black, Porcelain is white, Iris is purple, and Peony is pink. If true, Google is set to retire the Aloe and Bay versions of the Pixel 8a, on the sequel. The black and white are do-overs.
The other big takeaway is the change in design. The camera visor, which is a hallmark Google hardware chop, is getting the axe on the Pixel 9a, so it seems. The renders suggest that Google is looking to tone down the cameras in terms of look and positioning and not stand out like the other Pixel 9 series phones. The cameras—we are expecting two of those—are more “island” style like it is on other phones, aligning more towards the side rather than being at the centre.

The case leak doesn’t really tell anything about the front, but based on ongoing reports, the Pixel 9a is tipped to get a 6.28-inch display—preferably OLED—which is a tad bigger than the 6.1-inch Pixel 8a and closer to the 6.3-inch Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. More bezels are a dead-given and that is what leaks also suggest. A hole punch at the centre should complete the package.
Google Pixel 9a launch, sale date, and price expectations
The Pixel 9a is widely expected to launch in mid-March with pre-orders set to start from March 19. The phone will reportedly go on sale from March 26. Google will be expected to launch the Pixel 9a in India at around the same time as global markets.
As for pricing, word on the street is that the entry-level Pixel 9a with 128GB of storage will start at $499, which is the same as the Pixel 8a. The 256GB variant is tipped to cost a bit higher, at $599. In India, the Pixel 8a had a starting price of Rs 52,999 at launch. The Pixel 9a price is likely to hover around the same space.
