Nothing has launched a “new edition” of the Phone 2a in blue colour that it says is “designed for India.” The new variant will join the incumbent black and white edition and go on sale from May 2, 2024, though only a limited quantity will be available for grabs. Nothing says it will host a “live sale” for the Phone 2a blue colour on Flipkart at 12 noon with “exciting giveaways.”

The launch of the Phone 2a blue variant is coinciding with Flipkart’s Big Saving Days promotional sale event. As part of the collaboration, Nothing will sell the new model at an early access price of Rs 19,999 on May 2, down from the original price of Rs 23,999. The effective price is inclusive of a Rs 2,000 SBI offer and a Rs 2,000 bumped-up exchange value.

In a press release sent to the media, Nothing said the Phone 2a’s blue colour variant has a cultural significance to India.
“The Blue hue symbolises protection and prosperity – values deeply rooted in Indian heritage, so much so that it’s represented by the national teams,” Nothing India Marketing Director Pranay Rao said in a prepared statement, adding “This variant not only embodies innovation but also pays homage to our rich heritage, making it a truly special addition to our lineup.”
Nothing Phone 2a — spec-check
As expected, the change is only cosmetic which is to say that overall specs remain the same. And so, you get a 6.7-inch flexible AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The panel can peak 1300 nits and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Powering the Phone 2a is a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 ‘pro’ chip and a 5,000mAh battery. The phone supports 45W fast charging. It comes in a choice of 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, and 12GB/256GB memory configurations.
Running the show is Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14. Nothing is committing to three years of major OS and four years of security updates. For photography, the Phone 2a has a dual camera setup on the rear with a 50MP wide (f/1.8, OIS) and another 50MP ultrawide (without autofocus). The main camera can shoot 4K@30fps while the front 32MP camera is limited to 1080p@30fps.
