Microsoft has quietly introduced its Microsoft 365 Copilot AI assistant, available to select enterprise customers. This advanced system comes at a premium cost of $30 per month per user, but there’s a catch— enterprise customers must commit to a minimum of 300 users and contact Microsoft directly to gain access to this revolutionary AI-powered assistant.
Subscribing businesses opting for this premium service will benefit from Microsoft 365 Copilot’s capabilities, including document summarization, email generation, creating plans from notes, and enhancing Excel analysis. During the past few months, more than 600 enterprise customers have been testing this AI assistant during a paid early access program.

Microsoft has high expectations for the success of Microsoft 365 Copilot, even though the entry price is relatively high. Forrester Research predicts that by 2024, 6.9 million knowledge workers in the US will be utilizing Microsoft 365 Copilot.
While the doors are officially open to Microsoft 365 Copilot, it is more akin to a pre-order event, as not everyone can access it immediately. This low-key launch is partly because only Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 commercial subscribers can purchase Microsoft 365 Copilot at the moment, excluding some who are still on Office 365 plans and Microsoft 365 Business Standard and Business Premium subscribers. Microsoft 365 Monthly Enterprise Channel users will have to wait until December to access Copilot features.

Furthermore, parts of the Microsoft 365 Copilot experience are still in preview. Copilot for Excel is still in the preview phase, Copilot for OneNote is only available on Windows, the SharePoint Copilot preview is set to begin in November, and a Copilot preview for OneDrive won’t start until December.
