You will soon be able to edit your posts in Threads, which was not available earlier. According to TechCrunch, Threads has brought a new ‘edit button.’ This button will allow you to edit posts in Threads.

Earlier X (previously Twitter) users have been demanding for the ‘edit’ option. After much delay it finally brought the feature. However, the feature was only available for paid users. Now, Threads is also planning to bring in the ‘edit’option.

Edit your Threads!

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on October 2 that Threads, Instagram’s Twitter-like app, will introduce an ‘edit’ button. With this new feature, you can edit your post as many times as you want. Earlier, you had to delete a post and repost the post, in case you wanted to correct a typo.In an official blog, Zuckerberg said that you can now edit your posts. But there’s a catch here. You only have 15 minutes to edit your posts. Well, it’s much shorter than the paid version of X. However, the ‘edit’ button can help you to make changes in your posts.

Please note that unlike X, Threads users do not need to pay to use this feature. It’s free for all users. So, how do you use the new feature? Here’s how you can:

  • As soon as your post goes live, you have 15 minutes to edit that post. You can tweak or change anything you want to within this precious 15 minutes.
  • You will get an expanded ‘editing’ window for making the changes in your post.  You can make changes in this ‘editing’ window.
  • After 15 minutes, your post will get locked. You can’t make changes anymore.

Other updates

In addition to the ‘edit’ button, Threads has also included some new features. This includes expansion of its connection with fediverse. Notably, fediverse is a decentralized social web which links platforms such as Pixelfield and Mastodon. With a Threads account connected to fediverse can  allow you to see who likes your posts. You can also see who follows you on Threads, from other fediverse servers. To view the details of the accounts you just need to click on the ‘follower list’. After clicking on the ‘follower list,’ you will get the options ‘fediverse followers’ and ‘fediverse likes.’  To see the followers, click on the ‘fediverse followers,’ option. Similarly to check who has liked your posts, click on the ‘fediverse likes,’ option.

The current updates can be a part of Threads’ plan to expand its interconnectivity among Threads and fediverse. Furthermore, Zuckerberg also announced that Threads will be launching “Voice Threads” . Just like its name suggests, it will allow users to add voice posts to the social network.
