Huawei has finally announced that it will install a stage at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, that is slated to officially kickstart on February 26. Some earlier reports suggested that the Chinese company will launch the rumoured P11 (or P20) flagship smartphone but it denied the rumours last month. However, Huawei is any way holding an event at MWC 2018 to showcase its new devices as the company confirmed the announcement on Weibo.

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 will kick off officially from February 26 where major tech giants such as Samsung, HMD Global (Nokia), Asus, and Xiaomi will host the events to launch their new products. Huawei has joined the list and is expected to launch new devices, however, after quashing the rumours around the launch of Huawei P11 or P20, it is not clear what smartphone will be launched. However, there is an anticipation that a newer MediaPad model could be launched at the event.

As per earlier leaks and rumours, Huawei is expected to launch the MediaPad M5 that surface on the Geekbench listing. The listing reveals that the tablet will come with an octa-core Kirin 960 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM, run on Android Oreo, and have cellular connectivity with support for LTE network. The Huawei MediaPad M5 will sport an 8.4-inch Quad-HD (2560×1600 pixels) display.

Besides, Huawei could launch a new Android Wear 2.0-running smartwatch – Watch 3 – that will be successive to the Watch 2 that was launched last year. Recently, Huawei was reported to have patented a wearable device having a feature that will allow the user to write on the back of your hand – upper side of the palm – and it will be taken as an input to the wearable. While this is a patent that Huawei filed recently, it may or may not be launched at the event.

The rumours also suggest Huawei may launch the Huawei Pay payments system for the European market. The Huawei Pay is already available in China, however, the company last month joined hands with China’s UnionPay to expand it to other global markets.
