Google promises 7 major Android upgrades with Pixel 8 series
Among all the big announcements, what caught everyone’s eye was Google’s promise of 7 major upgrades. Google announced that with the Pixel 8 series, the company will give 7 major upgrades including OS, Security Fixes and Feature Drops.
This means that those who buy Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro—that runs Android 14—out of the box, will receive Android updates till 2030. And possibly, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will receive up to Android 21. Google has outcasted all competitors with this, the closest a brand came to this was Samsung with a promise to provide over four years of OS upgrades.

Would Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro last till 2030?
That’s a subjective question, and you won’t find an answer to it anywhere! However, there are devices that last more than half a decade and devices that dement in less than half a year. It totally depends upon the person who uses the phone. Moreover, Google might’ve hinted at potential repairs after a while as it expands its partnership with iFixit.
