It is unclear when Google plans to release the new quick reply interface to the general public.

Google is testing a new quick reply interface in Gmail, which would make it easier for users to respond to emails without having to open a new window. The new interface, which was first spotted by Android Police, is currently available as a limited server-side test from Google and is not yet available to the general public.

The new quick reply interface appears as a small overlay at the bottom of the emails replacing the big buttons for Reply, Reply All, and Forward. It looks like a chat box through which you can reply to new emails. It gives you easy access to “Reply All” or edit recipients using the dropdown on the left. On the right, there’s an expand button for a full-screen message window, useful for longer replies. To the right of the text field, there’s an emoji button for easy access to emojis.

According to the report, when you tap the text field without expanding it, your keyboard appears, and the text field moves to the middle of the screen. The reply setting drop-down and window expansion buttons adjust to make room for your text. This way, you can compose short responses without losing sight of the content you’re replying to. Once you start typing, the emoji key may change to a Send button on the right, explains the report.

It is unclear when Google plans to release the new quick reply interface to the general public. However, the fact that Google is testing the feature suggests that it could be released in the near future.
