Apple has always been known for its ‘privacy that really matters,’ and in line with this it will now share reports of data extracted by Apple Intelligence. In an official blog Apple explains that it will provide you with a detailed privacy report.
According to Apple the reports include details such as which data has been used and where it has been used by the AI model of Apple. It is expected that with the new initiative Apple aims to improve transparency among its users.
Get a detailed data privacy report
According to sources, the privacy report is generated by default and is stored on your device for a limited period of 15 minutes. In addition to this you will be able to adjust this setting to extend the report’s availability to seven days.
The new feature can work with both on-device and online language models.In addition to this, Apple has created Private Cloud Compute (PCC) modules with its own chip to ensure users’ privacy. The PCC aims to process requests online with end-to-end encryption, so that not even the company has access to this data. Once processing is complete, all data is permanently wiped, leaving no history.
Apple claimed that this is for the first time that PCC extends the security and privacy of Apple devices into the cloud. making sure that personal user data sent to PCC isn’t accessible to anyone other than the user.
How can you access your data privacy report
According to 9to5 Mac, if you are part of the beta program, or once Apple Intelligence is officially available, users will be able to access the “Apple Intelligence Report” (note that Apple Intelligence is likely to be available by the end of this year). You can get the report within the ‘Privacy & Security’ settings on compatible devices running the beta versions of iOS 18.1 or macOS Sequoia 15.1.
Apple also added that it will be protecting your data privacy report from unauthorized access. This means that to view it, you will need to authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID.
What’s next
The company further adds that PCC is built with custom Apple silicon and a hardened operating system designed for privacy. It also believes that PCC is the most advanced security architecture ever deployed for cloud AI compute at scale.
Furthermore, Compatible Apple devices running iOS 18.1 or macOS 15.1 beta will have a new “Apple Intelligence Report” menu within the Privacy & Security settings. By going there, you can export a report on your interactions with Apple Intelligence.
