The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 is slated to begin in less than a month now and tech companies have already started sending out invites. Asus has started sending out media invites for its MWC 2018 event where it is expected to showcase its new devices. The company has scheduled the event to be held on February 27 at 7:30 pm CET (12 am IST, February 28) in Barcelona, Spain. Asus’ MWC 2018 event will be live-streamed on the company’s website.
The Asus’ MWC 2018 event invite features an image that reads “BACKTO5” written along a design resembling the number 5. The invite also has a “We Love Photo” tagline at the bottom, which is similar to the tagline the company used for the ZenFone 4 series. Asus is holding the event in partnership with Qualcomm, as can be seen in the invite. All these hint at the launch of Asus ZenFone 5 series, that will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors under the hood.
According to a report last week, a new Asus smartphone codenamed ASUS_X00QD was certified with dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac support by the WiFi Alliance. The device is speculated to be the Asus ZenFone 5 Max and it will be launched preloaded with Android 8.0 Oreo. Another model dubbed Asus ZC600KL was recently certified in Russia that is pegged to come with a 6-inch 18:9 display and Snapdragon SoC. Reports suggest that it will be called the Asus ZenFone 5 Lite.
If these rumours are anything to believe, Asus could be preparing to launch more than one device under its ZenFone 5 series. The Asus ZenFone 5 series can be expected to come with 18:9 displays and dual camera setups, to catch up with the trend. Further specifications and details are expected to surface in the coming weeks ahead of the MWC 2018 launch.
