Anticipation for the iPhone 17 series is at an all-time high. The upcoming iPhone 17 series, which is set to be unveiled at Apple’s launch event, is expected to bring new upgrades to features and specs. From a redesigned camera housing to a larger battery and the more powerful A19 series chip, the new iPhone models are expected to draw more consumer interest, thus encouraging more people to make the switch.
One of the biggest upgrades is said to be new 120Hz OLED panel, which is now the standard on all models. This should allow for a better user experience, especially coupled with the ‘Liquid Glass’ fused iOS 26. The lineup is also set to introduce an entirely new model – the iPhone 17 Air – thus marking a new addition to the iPhone family since the introduction of the iPhone 14 Plus in 2022.
With renders continuing to leak just before the launch, there is little left for Apple to surprise us with.
Apple iPhone 17 series leaks and rumours
The iPhone 17 series is rumoured to include four models: the standard iPhone 17, the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, and the top-tier iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.
– The iPhone 17 is expected to see a slight size increase to 6.3 inches and a major display upgrade, bringing a smoother 120Hz ProMotion display. It is also expected to feature a new 24MP selfie camera, along with a new Apple A19 processor, and support for faster Qi 2 25W wireless charging. The iPhone 17 is also rumoured to include steel grey, green, and purple colours alongside the usual black and white.
– The most radical addition to the lineup is the iPhone 17 Air, which is poised to replace the Plus model. This new device is expected to be thin and lightweight, measuring just 5.5mm in thickness and will be built with a titanium-aluminium frame. It will house a single 48MP rear lens and be powered by the A19 chip with Apple’s new in-house C1 modem.
The Pro upgrades for top-tier models
The flagship iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to introduce major camera and performance enhancements. Reports suggest a new horizontal camera bar design on the back, with a mix of aluminium and glass materials. Both Pro models are likely to feature a brighter display and an Apple-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip for improved wireless speeds. A new 48MP telephoto lens with up to 8x optical zoom and 8K video recording is also expected.
Expected pricing of iPhone 17 series
Some analysts have predicted that the standard iPhone 17 will maintain its entry-level price of $799, or Rs 79,999 for the base 128GB storage variant. This is expected to encourage more buyers to jump the queue and get the new model instead of settling for the lower-priced iPhone 16.
An analysis from TrendForce predicts that the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max could start at $1,199 and $1,299, respectively, making them pricier than ever. To justify the bump in price, Apple could resort to increasing the base storage to 256GB. In India, the iPhone 17 Pro could start from Rs 145,000.
The new iPhone 17 Air is also expected to debut with a price tag of $1,099 in the US and Rs 99,990 in India.
