Amazon has officially launched its Alexa-powered Echo Spot in India on January 8, 2025, that doubles up as a clock. The Echo Spot features a unidirectional speaker and a customisable 2.83-inch colour display, packed with up to eight clock faces and four new alarm sounds.
The new Echo Spot is designed to help users with easy and quick access to time, weather, song library and more. The device’s touch screen offers six different color themes, giving users the flexibility to match the display with their room’s decor. The front-facing 1.73-inch speaker delivers clear audio for music, podcasts, and audiobooks, supporting popular services like Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, and JioSaavn. Volume can be adjusted using the top-mounted buttons or by simply asking Alexa to do it. There’s also a night mode in the speaker.
Echo Spot also integrates seamlessly with Alexa-compatible smart home devices, allowing users to set up routines for tasks such as controlling smart lights or playing music. Through the Alexa app, users can create custom routines or select from pre-set options to automate their daily activities. The device also features Ultrasound Motion Detection, enabling it to trigger smart home routines, like turning on lights, when users enter the room.
With Echo Spot, users can make voice calls to other Alexa devices, drop in on family members, or make announcements throughout the home. Privacy is a key focus, with a microphone on/off button and an option to manage and delete voice recordings directly from the device.
The Echo Spot is available in two colours—Black and Blue—and is priced at Rs 8,999. However, as part of a limited-time offer, it is being sold for Rs 6,449. The device can be purchased through Amazon, Blinkit, and Croma.
