Amazon has announced the launch of “AI Ready,” a new initiative to provide free artificial intelligence (AI) skills training and education to 2 million people globally by 2025. The program will offer a variety of resources, including eight free AI and generative AI courses, scholarships, and collaborations with educational platforms.
“AI Ready” is a response to the growing demand for AI skills in the workforce. An AWS study found that 73% of employers are looking for workers with AI skills, and that workers with AI skills can earn up to 47% more in salary than their non-AI counterparts.
Amazon’s “AI Ready” is an answer to this demand. It aims to provide free AI skills training to 2 million people globally by 2025 and to achieve this goal, we’re launching new initiatives for adults and young learners. Amazon says that it is also scaling its existing free AI training programs to remove cost as a barrier for accessing these skills.
“Artificial intelligence is the most transformative technology of our generation,” said Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president of Data and AI at AWS. “If we are going to unlock the full potential of AI to tackle the world’s most challenging problems, we need to make AI education accessible to anyone with a desire to learn.”

The “AI Ready” initiative will target both current professionals and the next generation of workers. For current professionals, the program will offer free eight new AI courses.
“There is something for everyone with courses ranging from foundational to advanced and for business leaders as well as technologists. These courses augment the 80+ free and low-cost AI and generative AI courses and resources provided through AWS.”
Amazon and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are investing over $12 million to provide scholarships, free courses, and coding events to more than 50,000 high school and university students globally. They aim to support underserved and underrepresented communities in learning about artificial intelligence and cloud computing. The initiatives include a free Udacity course on generative AI, a coding event called Hour of Code Dance Party: AI Edition in collaboration with Code.org, and a commitment to provide cloud computing skills training to millions of people by 2025.
