Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal has sent a letter to the company’s 382.4 million customers, announcing the expansion of Airtel’s high-speed Wi-Fi services to over 1,200 cities across India. In his communication, Vittal highlighted Airtel’s commitment to providing high-speed internet for smart devices, online education, and remote work.
“We now need high-speed internet at home for smart devices, studying, and working. While Airtel Wi-Fi has historically had limited availability, Airtel has worked towards solving this problem and now we have high-speed Wi-Fi available at present in 1,200+ cities. This means that those of you who were unable to access high-speed internet will now be able to do so,” Vittal wrote.
Vittal further emphasised that Airtel is offering the largest selection of TV shows, movies, and web series included with their Wi-Fi plans. “As a mark of this capability, we have now chosen to offer you even more value: the largest selection of TV shows, movies, and web series, which come included with your Wi-Fi plan. Specifically, this content delivered through Airtel Wi-Fi will give you access to 22+ OTTs and 350+ TV channels.”
Additionally, Vittal expressed gratitude to customers by offering extra value whenever they choose to add a new Airtel service, whether it be mobile, content, or Wi-Fi.

Airtel launched its Xstream Fiber service in October 2016, offering plans that start at Rs 699 per month. According to Airtel’s website, these plans provide access to 22+ OTT platforms and 350+ TV channels, with varying speeds.
In August 2023, Airtel introduced Xstream AirFiber, a fixed wireless access (FWA) service, in Delhi and Mumbai. Utilising 5G technology, Xstream AirFiber provides high-speed internet to homes and businesses, operating wirelessly on Airtel’s 5G Plus network. The monthly plan for Airtel Xstream AirFiber is priced at Rs 799, with a six-month plan available for Rs 4,435, including a 7.5 percent discount. The security deposit for the device is Rs 2,500.
