Starting 1 October 2025, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has raised the fees for various Aadhaar update services. These changes will remain in force until 30 September 2028, when they will be reviewed again. Individuals who wish to correct or change their Aadhaar details such as name, address, biometrics, or documents will now pay more than before.

What Services Are Affected And New Fees

Demographic Updates
“Demographic updates” include changes to name, address, date of birth, mobile number, email, etc. If you do a demographic update alone, the new fee is Rs. 75 which was Rs.  50 earlier. Moreover If you combine demographic updates with biometric updates in one go, there is no extra charge for the demographic portion.

Biometric Updates
However for changes in fingerprints, iris scans, or photograph, the amount is now Rs. 125. From October 2028, this charge will rise further to Rs. 150.

Document Updates and Proofs

Individuals wanting to update identity or address documents at enrolment centres will pay Rs. 75 which is up from Rs.  50 under the new rules. However, if one uses the myAadhaar portal (online), document updates remain free until June 14, 2026.

Aadhaar Printouts and Enrolment at Home

Individuals can get Aadhaar printouts via eKYC or other methods at Rs. 40 in the first phase, increasing to Rs. 50 later. If someone needs Aadhaar enrolment at their home like people who can’t visit centres, the cost will be Rs.  700 including GST. If more than one person at the same address uses the home service, each additional person will pay Rs. 350.

Special Cases: Children’s Biometric Updates

According to UIDAI to ease the burden on families, UIDAI has waived biometric update fees for certain children:

  • Ages 5–7 and 15–17: Their first mandatory biometric update is free.
  • Ages 7–15: Normally the biometric update would cost Rs.  125, but the fee is waived until 30 September 2026.

What This Means for Aadhaar Users?

With this new fees charges, most Aadhaar update operations cost more than before. Only some selected children’s updates are exempted from these price fee updates.

Therefore if you plan to update your details, it now makes more sense to combine updates (demographic + biometric) where possible to avoid extra separate fees. Also, for document updates, using the myAadhaar portal can save you money until mid‑2026.
