Renowned poet Rahat Indori passes away, was being treated for COVID-19

Dr Vinod Bhandari of Sri Aurobindo Hospital said that the poet suffered two heart attacks on Wednesday and could not be saved. Dr Bhandari added that he had been admitted to the hospital on Sunday after testing positive for COVID-19.

Renowned Urdu poet Dr. Rahat Indori passed away at an Indore hospital on Tuesday. The information was posted on the poet’s Twitter timeline. The account says that the poet had passed away due to cardiac arrest at 5 PM.

He was suffering from COVID-19 and had been hospitalised. The poet had himself tweeted this morning: “My coronavirus test was done yesterday after the onset of symptoms of Covid, and the result shows I am COVID-19 positive. I have been admitted to Aurobindo Hospital. Pray that I recover as soon as possible.”

Reacting to the news of Dr Indori’s demise, poet Kumar Vishwas in a tweet said that he had never thought that such a lively person would go in such a silence. Kumar Vishwas and Rahat Indori had performed many ‘Kavi Sammelans’ (poetry recitals) together. They both had also participated in a famous comedy show hosted by Kapil Sharma.
