Recent findings from the Hurun India Wealth Report and Luxury Consumer Survey 2025 revealed that yoga was the most preferred fitness activity among millionaires. Nearly 27% of the rich in India like to practice yoga as their ideal form of fitness.
So, are gyms uncool? Not so much as uncool, but the shifting focus of wellness. Yoga is not just known for fitness, but also a scientific form of reducing stress, elevated heart rate, and enhancing mindfulness. It is not uncommon that millionaires report higher levels of stress, and yoga tends to help its practitioners promote better sleep and ultimately improve productivity, too.
While doing yoga might not make you a millionaire overnight, this lifestyle practice is often observed as a means to foster self-discipline, focus, and decision-making. Over the past several millionaires have attributed yoga as a routine that improved their mental clarity and resilience. Involving the least amount of investment, one would assume it is a low-cost workout. On the other hand, it is easy to assume that pilates would be preferred by millionaires.
In fact, yoga trumps trendy workouts and other low-impact cardio exercises and has appealed to all age groups. Its combined benefits of wellness and fitness are one of the biggest driving forces for affluent individuals to prefer it over other options.

As per a recent Forbes report, global wellness tourism is set to surge and cross $1.3 trillion by 2025, influenced majorly by high-net-worth individuals. Immersive wellness retreats and luxury meditation-driven getaways have become a money mover, not just for the millionaires but also the hospitality industry.

Top destinations for wellness getaways include Thailand, Space, Bali, India, and several Swiss locations. They are not only symbols of exclusivity but also high-end customisation, privacy, and expensive pampering.

The Hurun report found that after Yoga, taking a swim was the second-most preferred fitness activity among Indian millionaires. 20% reported swimming as their indulgence. Interestingly, cycling and weight training were at par and where 14% of millionaires preferred this popular strength and resistance-focussed routine.
