Vivek Oberoi, one of the richest actors of Bollywood who has made it big in Dubai. After being a commercial real estate agent, Oberoi made his comeback on the big screen with Masti 4, after three years. Rumoured to have a Rs 1200 crore net worth, he lives in a lavish villa in Dubai with swimming pools and a rare art collection.
However, away from the Bollywood spotlight, Vivek Oberoi has finally cleared the air about his net worth and how he made his first crore at the age of 16. The Masti 4 star has his real estate company, Bricks and Wood. After headlining notable projects, Oberoi has over 350 employees and real estate engagements across 60 cities. Here’s a look at his humble beginnings and how he used them as a stepping stone.
Vivek Oberoi’s stock market rush
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Oberoi shared that he made his first crore in stock value at the age of 16-17. As he became financially independent at the age of 15, Oberoi shared, “It was from trading, and I knew how to save.” Coming from a family which owned mansions and palaces in the pre-partition era, he understood the peril of starting from scratch. It became a motivator for him to earn his own wealth.
The Masti 4 actor set up his first business at 19. While he contributed only Rs 20-25 lakh from his own pocket, he managed to raise Rs 12 crore. Recalling, he said, “At 19, I raised Rs 12 crore and my own contribution to that was just Rs 20-25 lakh. But everyone made a profit because I always thought of investors first. After that, I made my FinTech company, EdTech company, roadside safety assistance company, lab-grown diamond jewellery company, infrastructure consultancy firm, and all these are doing well.”
Oberoi’s 16-hour workday and move to Dubai
The actor even shared that he used to work nearly 16 hours a day and tried to give all his days off to his business, and put in extra hours after shoots. Until recently, Oberoi resided in Mumbai with his family. However, they moved to Dubai recently. He noted, “NRIs contribute 136 billion dollars a year. The trade reserve that India has, half of that is made up by the money that NRIs contribute.” Further, he shared that he had raised nearly $40 million from the US and UK for charitable work in India.
Finally, breaking the silence on his rumoured net worth, Oberoi brushed it away. Estimated at Rs 1200 crore, the actor revealed, “How does it matter? At the end of the day, you have the car and house you like, you buy them, then what else? God has given me enough that many generations of mine can be taken care of.”
