Sundar Pichai first met Anjali, in college, specifically at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He was studying Metallurgical Engineering at the time. Sundar and Anjali shared a class and were both from the same cohort. The two started off as pals. They maintained their relationship and companionship for a protracted period of time since they enjoyed each other’s company before making any commitment to one another. Pichai and Anjali gradually realised that they wanted to be more than friends and the felt the connection on a deeper level, well, it was love.
As their last year of engineering began, Sundar asked Anjali to marry him, and she said yes! In a recent interview, Sundar Pichai described how difficult it was for him and Anjali to date before smartphones. The businessman had described how he had first met Anjali at her all-girls hostel.
Well, like any other relationship, this love story too had its share of downs, and it started after the couple graduated. As Anjali stayed behind while Sundar went to the United States to finish his graduate studies after they graduated from college. They could not afford to speak frequently because Sundar was not financially stable at the time. For six arduous months, the two would not speak. But that did not change anything between the two, but their love for one another only strengthened with time. After some period of distance, Anjali finally travelled to the United States to be with him. Sundar was already employed and earning a respectable wage. At that point, he decided that because he had a stable career, it was time to marry Anjali.
After a period of time spent apart, Anjali also relocated to the USA. Sundar Pichai had landed a job with a US semiconductor company in the interim. He thought that since he had a secure job in hand, this was the perfect time to marry Anjali, the love of his life. So, Sundar asked Anjali’s parents for their permission before popping the question to her. After being married, the couple stayed in the USA and lived there.
They are now the delighted parents of a boy and a girl named Kavya and Kiran, who reside with them in the USA in a gorgeously constructed home.
