Salman Khan’s sister Arpita Khan is in the hospitality industry now, with the launch of her restaurant Mercii, a luxury dining space in Santacruz. Spanning across 9,000 sq ft, this upscale restaurant has quickly made it to the favourites of several Bollywood stars. But the real question is, why is Arpita Khan’s restaurant so expensive?

About Arpita Khan’s restaurant Mercii and everything that makes it expensive

Arpita co-owns the restaurant along with Ketul and Gaurav Parikh, and Anuj and Vicky Chugh of Richboyz Hospitality and Richboyz Entertainment. The name Mercii , French for ‘thank you’, reflects the brand’s ethos of hospitality. The menu, on the other hand, is about delivering authentic European flavours with global influences.

Set on the lower level without any access to natural light, Mercii is not just a typical basement dining experience. The space is defined by a transitioning ceiling designed by Carl from Dubai-based firm Creative Clinic. This ceiling changes its lighting throughout the day to suit the mood.

During daylight hours, the ceiling creates an artificial skylight effect, bathing the restaurant in a warm, sunlit glow for leisurely brunch. By evening, the ambience shifts into a dramatic nightscape, setting the mood for a quiet, elegant dinner.

“When Carl suggested the concept, it instantly appealed to me,” Arpita told Curly Tales. “The immersive ceiling lets us change the mood and adds a sense of expanse. It makes the restaurant feel more dramatic and larger than life.”

The interiors of Mercii

Mercii follows a palatial aesthetic with jharokha-style details, shamiana-inspired seating nooks, and a mix of plush sofas and trendy dining chairs. There is a massive bar and DJ console in the central space, with a private dining section that accommodates up to 30 guests, and an exclusive bar.

Arpita Khan’s restaurant has an international chef

Heading the kitchen is Chef Deniss Koll, as the Group Culinary Director. His resume features luxury restaurants in Dubai. Koll joined Mercii after a rigorous selection process.

“Chef Deniss was introduced by a close friend of my partners, Ketul and Gaurav,” Salman Khan‘s sister Arpita revealed. “When he came to Mumbai for a trial, we saw that his skill, heart, and passion aligned perfectly with what we wanted.”

What’s on the menu of Arpita Khan’s restaurant?

Mercii’s menu showcases European classics alongside Asian and Indian touches. Arpita’s personal favourite is the Quattro Formaggi, a four-cheese pizza priced at Rs 1,100. Other pizzas range from Rs 800 to Rs 1,100.

The most expensive item on the menu is the Herb Crusted Lamb Loin at Rs 10,000, followed by the theatrical Truffle Pasta on Wheel at Rs 8,500. The Teriyaki Salmon, another crowd favourite, is priced at Rs 4,000.

The restaurant’s bar program is equally indulgent, with a champagne list featuring bottles imported from France, some priced as high as Rs 1,88,550. White wines reach up to Rs 69,000, while premium red wines are listed around Rs 1,40,000. The signature cocktails, on the other hand, are decently priced between Rs 900 and Rs 1,200.

With an immersive design, regal interiors, and premium dining experience, Mercii is one of Mumbai’s most talked-about restaurants for both the city’s elite and its celebrities.
