Kiran Nadar is the wife of Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL Technologies. She is a trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation and the founder of the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art.
Kiran Nadar and Shiv Nadar’s love story
In 1975, Kiran Nadar met her husband at an advertising agency where she worked. When Shiv Nadar was working hard to build HCL, Kiran was helping NIIT become a popular brand. She also kept nurturing the avid art collector in her before finally becoming a popular one.
They have a daughter Roshni Nadar. She is married to Shikhar Malhotra, who is an executive director of HCL Corporation. They have two children.
Kiran Nadar’s education and career
Kiran Nadar went to Delhi University’s Miranda House to pursue a degree in English Literature. Post her graduation, in 1970, she began her career in the advertising field with Mass Communications and Marketing (MCM). After a few stints in the advertising industry, she decided to move back to Delhi to help her mother’s garments manufacturing company Alumna India Pvt. Ltd. While she was trying to create a career in the advertising sector, Kiran Nadar also felt inclined towards arts.
Currently, her roles include managing the SSN Trust, Public Health Foundation of India (PFHI), Rasaja Foundation, and the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation to support young Muslim girls in their education in Uttar Pradesh.
In 2010, she opened India’s first private philanthropist museum. It contains over 8,000 exquisite art pieces that she collected since 1988. Now known as the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA), the museum has two branches in Delhi NCR in Saket and Noida.
