In the world of high achievers, balance is the ultimate luxury. While we all live by the same 24-hour clock, the most successful people manage to turn each day purposeful and productive, making space for work as well as personal things. Perhaps the secret is they know how to prioritise what matters as they make each minute count.

EyeBuyDirect’s 41-year-old CEO Sunny Jiang recently shared her daily routine with Business Insider, and she makes the hustle look effortlessly elegant. Her well-structured day begins with a slow, mindful morning with ample space for fast walking, or light running and a 20-minute weightlifting session. Family time is non-negotiable for her as she dedicates 7 to 7:30 am exclusively to breakfast with her loved ones. She also credits her husband, who runs the household, keeps the family organised and continues to pursue his own passions in AI and innovation.

Meditation session at 8:30 am

In between the calls and getting to the office rush, Jiang takes out at least 20 minutes time for a guided meditation session as that “helps me clear out the information overload of running a global business.”

Staying closer to the office helps her save on commute time which gets utilised in things she loves doing the most. Avoiding a heavy meal in afternoon, the CEO shares her lunch is typically a salad with grains, beans, and a small amount of seafood. “I don’t want to feel tired afterward, so I avoid heavy meals,” she told Business Insider.

The importance of taking breaks

Emphasising on the importance of taking genuine breaks, Jiang says she always makes time to step away from her desk and take break. A coffee drinker, her preferred choice is a good Americano with no milk that gives her the energy and mood boost to power through the day.

It’s admirable how amid her busy routine, she manages to take out those little moments of bonding with her partner, that not beats her stress but also keeps her healthy.

“Sometimes, my husband and I also squeeze in a game of table tennis in our building. We’ve been playing since school, and it’s one of my favorite sports,” she said.

“Just five minutes of intense focus can get my heart rate to 140. It’s fun, energizing, and much more effective than a jog,” she told the outlet.

A peaceful nighttime routine

Setting your sleep routine right could go a long way in relaxation, which is crucial for good sleep. Jiang says she usually goes to bed by 9:30 pm or 10 pm. Playing piano is her favourite night-time activity that helps her unwind.

“I often skip dinner or just have something light, such as soup. I don’t like going to bed on a heavy stomach. But first, my favorite way to relax is by playing piano,” she says.

“For 30 minutes, or even just five, I forget everything else and focus only on the music,” she adds.

While weekdays are all about taking out small moments for the family, on weekends Jiang makes sure to keep an entire day free for her kids.

“If I’m not traveling, I pick up my kids from school on Friday afternoons. We’ll usually have dinner together to start the weekend,” she says.

“I make sure I keep one day free, where we play video games, go to the park, or visit a museum. I want that day to be fully dedicated to them,” she added.
