Introducing Anupama Nadella, the wife of Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella, who hails from an illustrious background as the daughter of an IAS officer. Satya Nadella, an accomplished engineer with roots in Hyderabad, has been at the helm of Microsoft since 2014, leading the company to unprecedented success.
Under his leadership, Microsoft surpassed Apple to become the world’s most valuable company, reaching a market valuation of $2.87 trillion on January 11.
Anupama, affectionately known as Anu, shares a unique connection with Satya, as both their fathers were IAS batchmates. Born in New Delhi to IAS officer KR Venugopal, Anupama pursued her education in Hyderabad and holds an architecture graduate degree from Manipal University.
Despite her academic achievements, Anupama chose a different path, embracing the role of a homemaker and dedicating herself to raising their three children. When the couple tied the knot in the same year Satya joined Microsoft, they faced immigration challenges. Satya, already a green card holder, relinquished it to facilitate Anupama’s entry into the US, obtaining an H-1B visa for her.
Tragically, the Nadella family faced the loss of their 26-year-old son Zain in 2022, who battled cerebral palsy. In the wake of this adversity, Anupama became actively involved with the Seattle Children’s Hospital, focusing on initiatives to enhance children’s health.
Beyond her family commitments, Anupama demonstrated philanthropic endeavours, donating Rs 2 crore to support farmers and women in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district. She also contributed Rs 2 crore to the PM relief fund in India during the Covid-19 outbreak.
Satya Nadella’s professional success is reflected in his substantial yearly compensation, amounting to 54.9 million dollars in the fiscal year 2021-2022. With a net worth exceeding Rs 6200 crore, Satya Nadella stands as a prominent figure in the tech industry, with Anupama supporting him every step of the way.
