All eyes are on Venice as Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez prepare to exchange vows in what is shaping up to be one of the most extravagant weddings in recent memory. Set against the backdrop of Italy’s floating city, the three-day celebration will blend old-world charm with modern luxury, featuring a $500 million superyacht, centuries-old palaces and a guest list filled with global power players.
Afterall, when the world’s third-richest man decides to say “I do”, it’s no surprise the celebration is nothing short of spectacular. The wedding celebration is being hailed as the “wedding of the century”.
Festivities to begin in two days
The festivities are scheduled from June 24 to 26, with around 200 high-profile guests expected to join the couple on the exclusive island of San Giorgio Maggiore, according to the mayor’s office in Venice. At the center of it all is Bezos’ $500 million superyacht ‘Koru’, where the ceremony is expected to take place as it anchors in the Venetian lagoon. The yacht will be accompanied by a support vessel, the ‘Abeona’, to handle logistics and likely a few celebrity arrivals.
The grand setting does not end on the water. Celebrations are expected to unfold across several iconic Venetian landmarks. These include the Palazzo Pisani Moretta, a 15th-century palace on the Grand Canal; the Scuola Grande della Misericordia, a Renaissance masterpiece; and the legendary Hotel Excelsior on the Lido.
How much will the wedding cost?
While the exact cost of the celebration has not been reported through any official sources yet, a report by The Telegraph stated that the total wedding cost is estimated at a whopping $16 million. That reportedly includes $1 million for flowers and decor, up to $3 million on planning services, $2 million for venue rentals, $1 million on catering and a stunning $1.5 million for Sanchez’s wardrobe alone.
The 61-year-old billionaire was previously married to MacKenzie Scott, with whom he shares four children. Lauren Sanchez was formerly married to talent agent Patrick Whitesell and has three children from previous relationships.
The guest list is likely to include the world’s richest and most famous. According to multiple reports, British actor Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, Mick Jagger, Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Oprah Winfrey, Eva Longoria and Leonardo DiCaprioare among some of the guests on the list. Fellow tech titans Bill Gates, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are also reportedly on the guest list for the multi-million-dollar affair. Some reports suggested that US President Donald Trump might make an appearance at the wedding celebrations.
