Amid the escalating political tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s military response through Operation Sindoor, stand-up comedian Gaurav Gupta’s interaction with a Pakistani fan during his ongoing US-Canada tour has gone viral.

During one of his recent shows, Gupta engaged in a witty and sharp banter with a Pakistani audience member. In a video shared on his official Instagram account, the comedian is visibly surprised when he discovers that a fan in the crowd is from Pakistan. Immediately, some audience members shouted “Sindoor,” referring to India’s recent military operation.

Gupta quickly calmed the crowd, urging them to “behave,” and turned his attention to the Pakistani fan. With a playful tone, he joked, “Chalo Hanuman Chalisa padho ab. Padho, padho!” prompting laughter and applause from the audience. The fan, too, responded with good humour.

Continuing the banter, Gupta asked the fan if he understood his Hindi jokes. When the man nodded, the comedian quipped, “Toh tumhe samajh nahi aata, nahi milega tumhe? Itne saalon se keh rahe hain nahi milega, nahi milega, phir aa jaate ho tum.” This remark referred to the long-standing Kashmir conflict and was met with cheers from the crowd.

Despite the bold exchange, Gupta made sure to acknowledge the courage of the fan. “Brother, you have guts to come here,” he said. “He thought artists were banned, but audience is still allowed!”

This viral exchange also reignited the conversation around the strained cultural ties between India and Pakistan. Pakistani artists remain banned from performing in India, and Indian streaming platforms have pulled down Pakistani films, music, and dramas from their catalogs. Also, several Pakistani celebrities have also been blocked on social media in India.
