India’s two-time Olympic medallist and celebrated badminton icon PV Sindhu might be battling it out at the court in her fierce athleticism, but when she comes back home, it’s ‘a refreshment altogether’ for her, courtesy her three-level home perched atop a hill in Hyderabad’s upscale Film Nagar. Much like her sporting career, which has been full of discipline, P.V. Sindhu’s house is a mix of refined aesthetics and intent.
For the unversed, P.V. Sindhu was born into a family of athletes. Both her parents were national-level volleyball players, and Sindhu, too, embarked on her journey in badminton at an early age. She became the first Indian woman to secure two Olympic medals – a silver at the Rio 2016 Games and a bronze in Tokyo 2020, held in 2021 due to the pandemic.
Her Hyderabad home is not just a space for relaxation, but a tribute to the stellar career she’s had. Designed with understated elegance, her home is a serene blend of cream-toned interiors, brown wood finishes, gold detailing, statement expansive windows and minimalist decor. Being on the top of a hill gives the home stunning panoramic views of the city and abundant natural light.
“I built this house on a hill. There’s a lot of greenery around, and it’s so peaceful. When you come home, you’re usually tired… but for me, it’s like a refreshment altogether,” Sindhu shared.
Take a look at her home:
What stands out in her beautiful home is a dedicated trophy room in the main living area, where she keeps her numerous medals, trophies, and accolades. Right beside her award room is a fully-equipped gym in the basement. This is her personal training ground, which features high-end cardio machines, weights, and space for strength conditioning.
“Here it is, my gym. Where I do all my fitness, my weight training… running and cycling. I work out here and that’s where I get that strength and that stamina from,” she explained.
P.V Sindhu’s house also has a special corner that pays homage not just to Sindhu’s achievements, but those of her father, PV Ramana, an Arjuna awardee himself. “This is where all my medals are… My dad is a volleyball player. This is his Arjuna Award, and this is mine—I got it in 2013. I think… I don’t know which is nicer, but I would say mine is nicer… anyway,” Sindhu laughed.
The interiors are done with wood textures and gold accents which are balanced by light fabrics and clean finishes, adding gentle sophistication to the home. “We’ve used a lot of gold essence and a lot of wood so that… it mixes up and it matches really well… everyone together decided that it would be nice and simple,” she added.
The living spaces – the bedrooms, a dining area, kitchen, and family zones are on the first two floors, while the third and topmost level has a private terrace garden and an in-house theatre. The outdoor spaces are equally well-appointed, with leafy surroundings, wooden seating nooks, and a calming ambiance perfect for winding down in the evenings.
More than just a luxurious house, PV Sindhu’s home is a reflection of the life she leads – hard work, achievements, and designed for both purpose and peace.
