Dhadak 2 reviews: The Dharma Productions star-cast featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri released today, August 1. Aiming for a blockbuster opening day, Dhadak 2 has sold nearly 18,000 tickets in advance booking, reports Pinkvilla. The intense romantic-drama trope is much-awaited sequel to Dhadak (2018).

The Shazia Iqbal directorial has made big wins across major theatres and expects a promising opening day. It also gives major competition to the audiences in the north to Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom which released on Thursday, July 31. As both the new releases enter their opening weekend together, experts wonder who will come on top. However, Kingdom’s box office collection easily glided through the Rs 10 crore mark on Day 1.

Dhadak 2 vs Saiyaara

Dhadak 2 also clashes with Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2 and July released Saiyaara, which became India’s second biggest film after Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava in 2025. The Ahaan Panday-Aneet Padda debut film grossed Rs 25 crore on its opening day. While audience reviews have been kind to Dhadak 2, the meagre box office collection so far tells another story.

The showmen behind Dhadak 2 opted for a limited release of the film in India with just 1000 screens showing the Siddhant Chaturvedi-Tripti Dimri starrer. The film’s plot follows the trope of its prequel starring Ishan Khatter and Jahnvi Kapoor, which made big waves at the big screen in 2018.

Dhadak 2 reviews

Users have called this film “hard-hitting”, praising the “sharp writing, emotionally-charged second half… Solid performances”. The discography has also been praised by audiences. “A film around social issues should have two qualities, ie, bravery in storytelling & honesty in performances!,” added another fan on X (formerly Twitter).

However, they have pointed out the staggering skin colour given to Siddhant Chaturvedi to emphasise his character. Some even called for the film’s boycott with the portrayal of caste and Indian society. While others praised Tripti Dimri’s diversity and breakaway from her image formed earlier.
