Shahid Kapoor’s action-thriller Deva has made a strong start at the global box office, earning Rs 34.01 crore over its opening weekend, as per the film’s makers. On Day 5 (Tuesday), the earnings reached Rs 0.91 crore till now. Overall, the net India collection for the five days stands at Rs 22.81 crore as per the latest data.

Released on January 31, the film is produced by Roy Kapur Films and Zee Studios, and directed by renowned Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews.

According to Industry tracker Sacnilk, on Day 1 (Friday), it earned Rs 5.5 crore. The collection rose to Rs 6.4 crore on Day 2 (Saturday), marking a 16.36 per cent increase, and further climbed to Rs 7.25 crore on Day 3 (Sunday), showing a 13.28 per cent rise. However, on Day 4 (Monday), there was a significant drop to Rs 2.75 crore, a decrease of 62.07 per cent. 

The movie plot of Deva goes as ACP Dev Ambre (Shahid Kapoor), a hot-headed, womanizing cop who loses his memory while investigating his best friend’s murder. The film is a remake of Rosshan Andrrews’ 2013 Malayalam film Mumbai Police, which starred Prithviraj Sukumaran. While the core plot remains intact, several changes, particularly in the climax, offer a fresh twist. Pooja Hegde plays Dev’s girlfriend, Divya Sathaye, a journalist who plays a pivotal role in his journey.
