While Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ is making waves at the Box Office, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starrer film ‘War 2’ isn’t far behind. According to Sacnilk, the film has already crossed Rs 17 crore in India in all languages. While this is the latest data from the website, the final numbers will be updated after the night shows.
War 2: Occupancy and advance ticket sales
While Chennai and Hyderabad showed occupancy of 68% and 50% respectively, Mumbai, Pune and NCR reflected 14% occupancy. The much awaited thriller is the latest addition to YRF’s spy universe. The film kicked-off the Box Office with a bang, earning big from its early morning shows. The movie is expected to rake in a minimum of Rs 30 crore on the opening day (Thursday).
Hrithik-Jr NTR craze sweeps India
In Hyderabad and across Telugu states, Jr NTR’s star power is pulling huge crowds. Advance bookings have broken past records with Telugu version collecting Rs 3.5 crore and Hindi version collecting Rs 6 crore, as per reports.
War 2 is among the costliest Indian films ever made, with an estimated budget of Rs 400 crore, according to Bollywood Hungama. The report says Jr NTR was paid a huge sum of Rs 70 crore, while Hrithik Roshan charged Rs 50 crore plus a share of the profits.
Ticket prices shoot up
According to Screen, cinema halls have raised the ticket prices sharply. In Mumbai, most multiplex tickets cost Rs 300 or more. Premium seats are priced between Rs 700 to Rs 800, and luxury venues are charging over Rs1,000.
On BookMyShow, the highest-priced ticket for ‘War 2’ in Mumbai is at Maison INOX, Jio World Plaza, BKC — Rs 2,620 for prime recliners and Rs 2,520 for normal recliners for an evening show. Even at these prices, the show is almost sold out.
If this momentum continues, War 2 could become Hrithik Roshan’s biggest opening yet, beating the Rs 53.35 crore earned by the first ‘War’. With 14,500 showings across 5,102 screens, the film seems to be set for a massive box office run.
