Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s romantic drama Param Sundari continues its steady journey at the Indian box office. It has managed to hold its ground despite mixed reviews and growing competition from recent releases. While audiences have widely praised the lead pair’s chemistry, several critics have spoken about how the film’s predictable narrative is a drawback.
Param Sundari box office collection
According to early estimates, the film has earned Rs 46.75 crore in 11 days, gradually inching closer to the Rs 50 crore mark. Trade tracker Sacnilk reported that Param Sundari collected Rs 75 lakh on Monday, marking its lowest single-day earnings so far.
Directed by Tushar Jalota in his Bollywood debut, the film enjoyed an impressive start, grossing Rs 26.75 crore during its opening weekend. On Friday, August 29, it made Rs 7.25 crore, followed by a 30% surge on Saturday with Rs 9.25 crore and Rs 10.25 crore on Sunday. By the end of its first week, the film had generated approximately Rs 39 crore domestically.
However, its performance slowed in the second week. Day 8 recorded collections of Rs 1.75 crore, Day 9 saw Rs 2 crore, and on Sunday, there was a slight recovery with earnings of Rs 2.5 crore. Industry experts say that the dip happened due to rising competition at the box office with multiple new releases.
Param Sundari now faces a challenging week ahead as it battles against big budget movies such as Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 2 and Vivek Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files.
Despite these hurdles, industry insiders believe that the film’s sustained word-of-mouth and growing appeal among family audiences could help it maintain steady weekday numbers and push it past the Rs 50 crore milestone.
Param Sundari plot and cast
Param Sundari follows the story of Param (Sidharth Malhotra), a wealthy entrepreneur from Delhi who invests his father’s money into ambitious start-up ventures. His journey takes an unexpected turn when he signs up for Soulmates, an AI-powered matchmaking app, which pairs him with Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor), a rooted, traditional woman from Kerala managing a family-run homestay alongside her uncle, a Kalari Payattu expert.
As Param’s fast-paced urban lifestyle collides with Sundari’s cultural values, they explore love, tradition, and modernity. The ensemble cast also includes Inayat Verma, Sanjay Kapoor, and Manjot Singh, adding depth to the story.
