As Taylor Swift came out with her newest album, ‘Life of a Showgirl’, her press tours are getting interesting by the minute. After addressing her engagement to Travis Kelce, for the first time since they made the announcement, she returned to the Jimmy Fallon couch. After giving the Internet many memorable appearances on the show, she spoke up about the dreamy proposal to her Super Bowl champion fiancé.
Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the billionaire pop superstar had “never seen” Kelce so “nervous” before, not even on the field. She revealed that it all happened just moments after the couple wrapped up shooting the New Heights podcast, where she also announced her new album. Sharing with Fallon, the 35-year-old revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end had ensured to put blackout drapes on every window. While she had the idea that it was for the podcast, only later that she discovered the actual reason.
‘He’s professionally not a nervous person’
“I was like, ‘He is so serious about this, and I really appreciate that,’ ” she recalled thinking in the moment. “Afterwards, I kind of realised, he’s walking around sort of nervous about the podcast, he’s like, ‘My heart is racing, I know how much this means to you, I really want this to be what you hoped it would be,’ because we’d been talking about doing the podcast and announcing the album.”
Notably confused about his actions, Swift said, “I’ve never seen this dude nervous, ever,” Swift told Fallon. “He’s professionally not a nervous person,” she remarked. Adding to this, the Tonight Show host exclaimed that he was bound to be nervous since he had, really, only one major question to ask.
While Swift only shared the news 13 days after she announced her new album, she revealed that the taping of the episode was just a ruse. Calling it a “distraction” to keep her looking out the windows, Taylor Swift told Fallon that Kelce asked if she wanted to “walk around the backyard” after the podcast. Upon reaching the location, with a made-up bush, covered in flowers, the Grammy winner quickly caught on to the “best possible case scenario” that had hit her.
The $65,000 engagement ring
Flaunting her rock, Taylor Swift seemed extremely happy about her decision. Earlier, on the Graham Norton Show, she had revealed that she looked at her ring all the time, “like it was a TV.” She shared that her Super Bowl jock had the ring for a “really long time” before he popped the question. She revealed that Kelce had “customised the ring and designed it with this amazing jeweller.”
“He’s just my favourite person I’ve ever met — no offence to everyone else, but the fact that this is the person that I get to hang out with every day forever, that’s the whole thing of it,” she told Fallon. As fans deeply await the wedding bells, they cannot help but speculate on the date. However, revealing that her fans would “know” when it would happen, a People report confirmed the rumours.
Since the engagement “hasn’t fully hit them yet,” calling each other fiancé is still new for them. “They’re not doing anything over the top to celebrate, just enjoying being together and having a little bit of normalcy before things pick up again,” People quoted their source.
