Kantara Chapter 1 vs Sunny Sanskari advance box office collection: Cinephiles are in for a treat as both the Bollywood and the Telugu film industry are coming with big releases this Dussehra weekend. As Rishab Shetty’s directorial comeback will give huge competition to the Varun Dhawan starrer, it will be a battle for the audience as it heats up in advance booking collections.

According to the industry tracker Sacnilk, Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 has left Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari’ behind by a huge margin. The prequel to Kantara, it is set to become one of the biggest Telugu blockbusters, competing with its own ‘They Call Him OG’, starring Pawan Kalyan. Early reports suggest that the Rishab Shetty starrer collected nearly 11 times more than the Bollywood release.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 has collected nearly Rs 20 crore on Day 0 with blocked seats. But overall, it has left behind the Rs 10 crore mark across all languages for its opening day. Expecting to beat its own record, the first from the franchise collected Rs 400 crore during its theatrical run and became a national phenomenon.

With over 11,000 shows scheduled nationwide for its Dussehra release, more than 3.72 lakh tickets have been sold. Undoubtedly, a large share of bookings comes from the Kannada-speaking region, where nearly 2 lakh tickets have been sold with 1,776 shows. However, Kantara: Chapter 1 in Hindi has been a winner too, with more than 50,000 tickets already sold out.

All Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu languages have fared well with nearly 1,24,000 tickets sold across India. The pre-release ticket sales opened on Sunday and have been gaining momentum since. It has left behind Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which grossed Rs 13.79 crore in day-one advance sales. However, it is yet to cross Pawan Kalyan’s OG, which faced a Rs 21 crore advance collection record.

Karan Johar’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’s advance sales has reached Rs 2.29 crore with blocked seats and have 3459 shows scheduled so far. This is Janhvi Kapoor’s second rom-com release this year after Param Sundari. Starring opposite Sidharth Malhotra, the film did not manage to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in India and ducked out of the box office race.

As the quest to find the Dussehra weekend winner at the box office continues, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari booked 34.46 lakh tickets in Maharashtra. High numbers were also seen in Delhi NCR with 31.79 lakh tickets sold so far. Audiences also await the Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra starrer in Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, and Jammu & Kashmir with nearly 40 lakh tickets sold in all.
