Mammootty’s action crime thriller Kalamkaval which released in theatres on December 5th 2025 is on a quick path to achieve blockbuster status at the Box Office. It has already broken the South Indian film icon’s personal record by becoming the fastest of his movies to cross Rs 50 crores worldwide, leading to several media outlets to dub it his ‘fastest fifty’
Critics have praised the movie for its stellar direction and cinematography alongside strong performances by the cast, a thrilling plot and atmospheric filmmaking. Helmed by Jitin K Jose in his directorial debut, the film has maintained a steady hold over the Box Office and inched past Rs 24 crores from nationwide collections within just 6 days of release.
How did Kalamkaval perform at the Box Office on Day 6?
On day 6, Kalamkaval managed to rake in collections of Rs 2.1 crores marking a 25% drop from the previous day when the film collected Rs 2.8 crores as per industry tracker Sacnilk. This has rounded out the India net collection to an impressive Rs 24.64 crores and an India gross collection to Rs 26.15 crores.
The drop is to be expected as mid-week shows don’t attract a lot of footfall; if the film maintains its momentum, Kalamkaval’s collections could pick up with the approaching weekend. Overseas earnings of the movie have brought the total worldwide collection to Rs 54.65 crores as per the latest data from Sacnilk – it brought in Rs 28.5 crores solely from returns abroad. With a budget of Rs 25 crores according to NDTV, the film has already earned 2x of what it took to create it.
Theatre occupancy on Day 6
Kalamkaval continued to hold steady in theatres on its sixth day, with occupancy patterns reflecting the mid-week slowdown but still showing strong support in Kerala. According to Sacnilk, overall Malayalam occupancy stood at 20.63% on Wednesday, with evening and night shows once again driving the bulk of collections. Kochi remained the strongest market with 35.50% turnout, followed by Kozhikode at 33.25% and Kollam at 31.00%.
Meanwhile, metros outside Kerala such as Mumbai and Delhi-NCR saw more modest numbers at 18.75% and 18.67% respectively. Despite the dip compared to the weekend, the film’s consistent draw in its home state shows that Mammootty’s still got that star power that can keep audiences in theatres.
