Ikkis box office collection day 2: Agastya Nanda‘s debut Bollywood film is off to a slow start. Ikkis, being Dharmendra’s final on-screen act, has made little to no impact on the film’s box office collection. However, the rave reviews and positive word of mouth have kept the movie alive, after the thunderous roar of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar still echoes in theatres.
Ikkis, based on the true story of Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, fought valiantly during the 1971 Indo-Pak clash. At the young age of 21, he laid down his life for India during the war and died a hero of war. Headlined by Agastya Nanda, this marks the Bachchan-Nanda scion’s first break after his sister Navya Naveli Nanda’s appearance on the podcast ‘What The Hell, Navya?” Agastya had earlier starred in Zoya Akhtar’s Netflix film, Archies which did receive a positive response.
Ikkis collection day 2: Box office update
Ikkis opened to a Rs 7 crore box office collection on January 1, as per Sacnilk. This comes after the Rs 1 crore advance collections the industry tracker reported, a day before its release. While it could not reach the Rs 10 crore benchmark on day 1, it also saw a 50 per cent dip on its debut Friday. Factoring in the Rs 3.5 crore collection made on day 2, the total box office collection for Ikkis finally crossed the threshold.
Despite a healthy occupancy on its opening day, Ikkis managed to fill an average of just 14.72 per cent of theatres across India. The numbers, which peaked at 40 per cent on its release day, dropped to 17 per cent in Delhi (652 shows) and 14.25 per cent in Mumbai, with 424 screenings in the city. However, Ikkis was received well in Bengaluru with the highest occupancy across the chart at 33 per cent for 135 shows.
The Maddock Films production and Sriram Raghavan’s directorial also stars Sikandar Kher and Simar Bhatia, alongside Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, and debutant Agastya Nanda. Following this stint, Jaideep Ahlawat is likely to feature in Drishyam 3, replacing Akshaye Khanna’s cop character.
