Not just in India, but Aditya Dhar’s directorial gives stiff competition to James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash on screens globally. Opening to Rs 28 crore, the Akshaye Khanna-Ranveer Singh spy-thriller has officially entered the Rs 1,000 crore club worldwide. Standing alongside newsmakers like Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Deepika Padukone’s Kalki, Dhurandhar has made history after breaking his own records.

Coming from a time when Rs 100 crore was a feat, achieving the Rs 1,000 crore benchmark is a huge achievement for a film. Not just commercial, but making a permanent mark in history. Battling social stigmas, Dangal not only revolutionised Hindi cinema but also sent a hard-hitting social message. It went on to win several Filmfare Awards and international honours like AACTA and Douban. Its worldwide gross crossed Rs 2070 crore.

A cult-film, Baahubali 2 became an all-time blockbuster answering the fiery question of the decade, ‘Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali?’ Carrying forward from the prequel, Baahubali made over Rs 1700 crore in India.
