Coolie vs War 2 Box Office Collection Day 8: Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR starrer War 2 have set the box office on fire. Released on August 14, both films drew massive crowds, packed theatres with cheering fans, and managed to storm past the Rs 200 crore mark within just seven days. Fans have been calling it one of the biggest cinematic face-offs in recent years: South India’s superstar Rajinikanth going head-to-head with Bollywood’s action icon Hrithik Roshan in YRF’s spy universe. While both movies have been declared blockbusters already, it is Coolie that has raced ahead in the numbers game, showing Thalaivar’s dominance once again at the big screen.
Coolie box office collection Day 8
Rajinikanth’s Coolie opened with a blockbuster opening, collecting Rs 65 crore on Day 1 and Rs 54 crore on Day 2. The momentum continued with Rs 39.5 crore on Day 3 and Rs 35.25 crore on Day 4. Although the film witnessed a sharp dip later in the week, Rs 12 crore on Day 5, Rs 9.5 crore on Day 6, and Rs 6.5 crore on Day 7, it still maintained a solid run. On Day 8, early estimates show it added Rs 6.25 crore, taking its total to a massive Rs 229.75 crore.

War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, also opened strong with Rs 52 crore on Day 1 and peaked at Rs 57.35 crore on Day 2. However, the film saw a drop in earnings with Rs 33.25 crore on Day 3, Rs 32.15 crore on Day 4, and slipping further to Rs 8.75 crore on Day 5. Collections held steady at Rs 9 crore on Day 6 but fell to Rs 5.75 crore on Day 7 and Rs 5 crore on Day 8. With this, the film’s total currently stands at Rs 204.25 crore.
Coolie vs War 2 box office collection Day 8
Both films are action entertainers, but the audience response reveals why Coolie is leading the race. Lokesh Kanagaraj’s direction and Rajinikanth’s unmatched mass appeal have powered the film, which also carries nostalgia as it borrows its name from Amitabh Bachchan’s 1983 classic.
Meanwhile, War 2 belongs to the successful YRF Spy Universe, bringing back Hrithik’s Kabir character and introducing Jr NTR into the film. While it had the advantage of brand recall and action spectacle, it hasn’t quite matched Coolie’s box office pull in the first week.
Coolie vs War 2 second week box office collection expectations
Trade expert Sacnilk says that with no big releases until early September, both films have room to grow. While Coolie currently leads with Rs 25 crore, the coming weeks will reveal if it can maintain dominance or if War 2 will make a stronger comeback. For now, Rajinikanth seems to have won round one of this mega box office clash.
