Coolie Box Office Collection Day 6: Rajinikanth’s latest film Coolie is continuing its dream run at the box office, but the weekday trend shows a slight dip in collections after the strong Independence Day weekend opening. Despite facing tough competition from Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2, the action-entertainer has managed to cross the Rs 200 crore mark in India within just six days.
According to early estimates by trade tracker Sacnilk, Coolie earned Rs 8.11 crore net on day 6, taking its total box office collection in India to Rs 214.61 crore net. While the numbers are strong, the dip from the weekend highs is clearly visible.
Coolie’s strong opening weekend
The film opened with a bang on Thursday, raking in Rs 65 crore net on its first day. Friday saw a 15 per cent drop with Rs 54.75 crore, but Coolie still held strong. Over the weekend, it collected Rs 39.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 35.25 crore on Sunday. On Monday, it brought in Rs 12 crore, which was considered an excellent hold for a weekday release.
With these numbers, Coolie has already crossed the Rs 400 crore mark worldwide, making it one of Rajinikanth’s biggest grossers in recent years.
Competition and challenges ahead for Coolie
While Coolie continues to stay ahead of War 2 in terms of collections, it still has to face strong competition from other big-ticket films like Saiyaara (Rs 324.75 crore net in India) and Chhaava (Rs 601.57 crore net in India). Moreover, Rajinikanth and director Lokesh Kanagaraj will also be looking at how Coolie performs compared to Lokesh’s earlier blockbusters Vikram (Rs 247 crore net) and Leo (Rs 341.04 crore net).
Coolie’s start-studded cast
Part of Coolie’s success comes not just from Rajinikanth’s on-screen presence but also from its star-studded cast. The film has Nagarjuna Akkineni as the menacing antagonist, Aamir Khan in a surprising special appearance, and strong performances from Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir. Fans are loving the action scenes, the fast-paced story, and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s direction, which keeps the film engaging from beginning to end.
With a massive worldwide collection already in place, the big question now is whether Coolie can maintain momentum in the coming days and eventually surpass Vikram and Leo to become Lokesh Kanagaraj’s biggest hit yet, or will it slow down eventually?
