The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has updated the formats of Disability Certificates used in its exams, based on new rules issued by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD). These new formats are meant to make the verification process easier and more uniform across all SSC recruitments.

As per the SSC notification, Disability Certificates will now be issued in two formats: Form V for Single Disability and Form VI for Multiple Disabilities. These replace the older three-form system – Forms V, VI, and VII. The updated forms are attached to the official notice for candidates to check.

This change is in line with the DEPwD notification dated October 16, 2024, which called for standardised certificate formats to make documentation clearer and more accessible for persons with disabilities. By adopting these formats, SSC is aligning its process with national standards.

Transitional provision for candidates

The SSC also clarified that candidates appearing for exams whose notifications were issued after October 16, 2024, and whose recruitment process is still ongoing, can submit either the new formats (Form V or VI) or the older ones. This ensures that candidates with previously issued certificates are not affected.

These new formats will apply to several SSC exams, including CGL, MTS, and other Group B and C recruitments. By reducing the number of certificate types, SSC aims to make the submission and verification process smoother and avoid unnecessary confusion.

Candidates should read the new forms carefully and make sure their certificates match SSC requirements. While older certificates will still be accepted for now, new applicants are encouraged to use the revised formats.

Instructions to SSC regional offices

SSC has also instructed all its regional and sub-regional offices to update their notifications, application forms, and other documents to include the new certificate formats. This step is important to keep the recruitment process clear and organized.
