Several coaching centers operated by FIITJEE across Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh have abruptly shut down, leaving hundreds of students stranded in the middle of their academic preparations. The affected locations include Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar, Noida Sector 62, and branches in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, and Varanasi. Centers in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, and Patna, Bihar, have also been impacted.
FIITJEE, a renowned institute specializing in coaching students for competitive exams like the IIT-JEE, has long been a favorite among aspiring engineers. However, the sudden closure of these centers has raised significant concerns.
Why has FIITJEE closed its coaching centers?
The closures are reportedly linked to mass resignations by teachers due to non-payment of salaries. According to officials, attempts to bring in instructors from other centers, such as Noida, were unsuccessful and lasted only a few days. Left without staff, the administration had no choice but to cease operations.
The abrupt shutdown has sparked outrage among parents, some of whom have filed police complaints against the institute. In one FIR lodged in Ghaziabad, parents accused FIITJEE of disrupting their children’s exam preparations. A similar complaint was also filed in Noida. These complaints further allege that teachers at the Ghaziabad center were unpaid for months.
The closures have raised questions about FIITJEE’s financial stability. In addition to salary disputes, the institute is reportedly grappling with regulatory challenges, including actions taken against several branches for violating licensing and fire safety norms.
While the reasons behind FIITJEE’s troubles remain under scrutiny, the immediate concern is the devastating impact on thousands of students in North India who are in a crucial phase of their exam preparation.
